Medical System in Japan

Japanese hospitals have not only inpatient data but also outpatient data. Patients, as shown in the chart above, have the “freedom of choosing” any medical institution regardless of severity of disease, which in this case includes not only acute but also chronic disease in our database. Patients who visit hospitals and are not admitted are considered as “outpatient” care as it is reflected inside the white square of the chart.
