Next, regarding syphilis, we looked at the number of patients with syphilis from the 1st quarter of 2019 to the 4th quarter of 2022 and the distribution by sex and age in 2022 from the MDV data .
First, we tabulated only the disease condition.

Since there was a large difference in the distribution by sex and age, considering the possibility of past history and false positives in the diagnosis of syphilis, Tests and drugs for syphilis were added to the conditions, and the transition in the number of patients from the 1st Q of 2019 to the 4th Q of 2022 and the distribution by sex and age in 2022 were recalculated.

Although the number of patients continues to increase, Figure 2-2 shows that the majority of patients are men in their 20’s to 50’s and female patients in their 20’s in a similar trend as reported by the Ministry of Health, Labor & Welfare
