Trends in Hospitalization Cause and Seasonal Diseases as Seen from Form 1 Files.
At MDV, we possess both receipt data and DPC data. The Form 1 files (FF1) included in the DPC data contain information such as the height, weight, and cancer stage of hospitalized patients. In this survey, we utilized the Form 1 files to investigate the monthly patient counts by disease for those transported by ambulance and admitted to the hospital. The monthly case counts for the top five diseases by number of cases are as follows.

From our Form 1 file Period of coverage: September 2019 – August 2023 Medical institutions covered: 237
ICD10 code sub categories: I63 stroke, U07 emergence code U07, S72 femur fracture, I50 heart failure, J69 pneumonia due to solid and liquid substances
Since 2020, the number of hospitalized patients for U07 (Emergency Code U07 = COVID-19 related) has been sharply increasing, but no corresponding decrease has been observed in the hospitalization numbers for other top conditions such as cerebral infarction, femoral neck fracture, and heart failure.
Furthermore, the top three diseases in the data that are said to be seasonal are as listed below.

From our Form 1 file Period of coverage: September 2019 – August 2023 Medical institutions covered: 237
ICD10 code sub categories: S72 femur fracture, I50 heart failure, I61 intracerebral hemorrhage
For femoral neck fractures, heart failure, and intracerebral hemorrhage, a seasonal pattern is apparent in the winter, suggesting that falls and occurrences are more likely during the winter months. Additionally, for vestibular dysfunction, including dizziness symptoms, the number of patients admitted after emergency transport peaks in the summer, as seen in the graph below.

From our Form 1 file Period of coverage: September 2019 – August 2023 Medical institutions covered: 237
ICD10 code sub categories: H81 Vestibular dysfunction
