Ranking of Surgical Procedures by Inpatient and Outpatient Categories in MDV Data

SHARE

We have compiled rankings of the top 20 surgical procedures based on actual patient counts within MDV data for the period from January to December 2023, considering insurance calculations. (Inpatient and Outpatient)

Data Collection Period: Only hospitals with complete data for the specified months from January to December 2023 were included. Number of Facilities Meeting Basic Criteria: 400 facilities
※ Excluding “Transfusion,” “Add-on,” and “Classification Code K000: Wound Management” from the rankings.

Furthermore, from within this dataset, we have selected surgeries related to “Fractures” and classified them into non-invasive procedures primarily involving external immobilization such as casting (K044: Non-invasive Reduction of Fractures) and invasive surgical procedures involving bleeding (K046: Invasive Fracture Surgery, K073: Invasive Surgery for Intra-articular Fractures). We have created rankings for each type of surgery (up to the top 9 for K044 due to only 9 procedure names) and monthly patient counts per procedure in terms of inpatient and outpatient categories.

K044: Non-invasive Reduction of Fractures (Ranking of Surgical Procedures by Inpatient and Outpatient Categories, Monthly Patient Counts)

Additionally, when examining trends by gender and age for fractures in general, we observed that peaks were often observed in the younger male population (late teens) and middle-aged to elderly female population. However, the graph for K046: Invasive Fracture Surgery (Clavicle) displayed a distinct trend compared to other fracture sites.
