When using RWD database, it is often challenging to generalize from the statistical analysis and extrapolate values to the entire population. Meanwhile, there is a growing need to grasp such large aggregate data to build a better understanding of healthcare.
To address such needs, MDV has developed a new function in its web tool MDV ANALYZER to allow the extrapolation of the results to the entire Japanese population. This function uses DPC data owned by MDV from a selection of medical institutions, medical receipt data from health insurance associations, and NDB (National Database) to calculate the values at national levels, such as number of patients or number of prescriptions.
During the webinar, we intend to present the algorithm that combines the various databases and produces numerical values by extrapolation. We will also share the challenges we have encountered in the development process and how we managed to implement this new tool using actual examples.
Speaker’s Curriculum
Practicing Physician / Data Scientist
Graduated from the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Tokyo. Trained as a neurosurgeon, he engaged in online illness encyclopedia and telemedicine at Medley Co., Ltd. He became involved in data analysis and AI development for enterprises as a data scientist at 3idea Inc. He founded Datack, Inc. while analyzing medical data, as he became keenly aware of the importance of creating a medical database system. His work focuses on medical data collection system, an iPad interview system, and medical language processing technology. In “Medical 4.0”, he ranked among the top 30 doctors involved in medical innovation in Japan.
