The healthcare entertainment app “kencom” provided by DeNA’ s subsidiary DeSC Healthcare, Inc. (Headquarters * Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, President: Sho Segawa, hereinafter DeSC Healthcare) is currently used by a total of about 100 organizations including health insurance and local governments, representing approximately 4.8 million persons as of April 2022. DeNA also has a business alliance with Data Horizon Co., Ltd. (Hiroshima City, President: Yoshio Utsumi), and the total number of insurer databases that can be utilized in this business alliance with MDV exceeds 8 million (as of April 2022). Meanwhile, MDV continues to collect and process data based on the consent for secondary license obtained from medical institutions. MDV hospital data represent 39.6 million (actual number of patients, end of April 2022) while health insurance association data represent 7.71 million. The full configuration of this alliance is therefore expected to achieve over 15 million patients’ data.

Outline of the Business Alliance

(1)Collaboration in data utilization

1. By combining the database of both companies, it would result into the largest medical database in Japan, regrouping 40 million patient hospital data combined with health insurance data of 15 million patients.
2. The combined database will be the data source of MDV analytics web tool 「MDV analyzer」 and the service is expected to go-live this summer.

A wealth of new data like self-employed persons (National Health Insurance) or Elderly (75 years old and above) provided soon

MDV’s medical care database is currently being used by pharmaceutical and medical devices manufacturers to understand market conditions and design product strategies. Recently in April 2018, the revised GPSP Ministerial Ordinance (Ministerial Ordinance on Standards for Post-marketing Surveys and Testing of Pharmaceuticals) came into effect, and MDV has been selected as the database for post-marketing database surveys. In addition, to respond to the needs from academia, MDV actively addresses inquiries for original data to write papers and presentations at academic conferences.

Through the collaboration between MDV and DeNA, it is now possible to increase the depth of existing hospital data and health insurance data, to include self-employed people who join the National Health Insurance, as well as when people over 75 years old join the Senior Elderly Insurance Scheme.
