Efforts to Improve Patient Satisfaction through PHR Utilization. Ohara General Hospital Receives the Innovation Award at the National Medical Management Practitioner Research Conference
- November 2, 2023
Dr. Hirotomo Ando, Director of the Central Medical Records Management Department at Ohara General Hospital, operated by the Ohara Memorial Foundation (Chairman and Chief Executive Officer: Katsuhiko Sato), received the Innovation Award at the 12th National Healthcare Management Practitioners Research Conference, Osaka Edition, held on Sunday, October 8th. The event was organized by Mr. Koichiro Shimizu, Chairman of the Conference Committee.
Ohara General Hospital is committed to enhancing the overall health consciousness of the community, driven by the strong vision of its chairman. To fulfill this vision, the hospital has been operating the Personal Health Record (PHR) system “Karteco” provided by Medical Data Vision Co., Ltd. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hiroyuki Iwasaki) since July 1, 2021. “Karteco” allows patients and health checkup recipients to store and access their medical records and test results via a web-based service accessible on smartphones and other devices.
The “Karteco” system at Ohara General Hospital enables the viewing of medical records, health checkup results, and bone density measurements. Additionally, for individuals with results indicating the need for precision testing or treatment, a “Recommendation for Medical Consultation” service is provided via email to encourage them to seek medical attention promptly. This initiative aims to facilitate early detection and treatment of illnesses and promote overall health.
In the future, the hospital plans to consider expanding the scope of medical information availability based on user requests and implementing email notifications to track secondary medical checkup attendance among health checkup recipients.
As a result of receiving the Innovation Award at the 12th National Healthcare Management Practitioners Research Conference, Osaka Edition, in October, Dr. Ando has been invited to present the same topic at the 2nd Healthcare Management Practitioners Research Conference, Tohoku Branch Edition, scheduled for Saturday, December 9.
