PHR “Karteco” to Expand Features on October 1, Introducing AI-Based Risk Prediction for 34 Diseases Using Health Checkup Data

Medical Data Vision Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Hiroyuki Iwasaki; hereinafter “MDV”) is pleased to announce the launch of a new feature in its PHR (Personal Health Record) system “Karteco” starting from Tuesday, October 1st. This new feature utilizes AI (Artificial Intelligence) to predict the risk of developing 34 different diseases based on health checkup data.
The primary goal of Karteco’s “Health Prediction” function is to encourage behavior change for disease prevention and health maintenance, as well as to recommend medical consultations after checkups. This feature leverages the AI predictive analytics tool “Prediction One,” provided by Sony Network Communications Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Noriyoshi Nakagawa).
The “Health Prediction Report” previously used existing logic based on health checkup data to predict the risk of developing six diseases. This time, by utilizing MDV‘s extensive medical database, “one of the largest in Japan,” and in collaboration with AI technology provided by Sony Network Communications, we have developed a new risk prediction model. This model calculates and presents the risk of developing 34 diseases within the next three years.
MDV’s Unique “Health Risk” and Comparative “Disease Ratio” by Gender and Age Group
In addition to displaying the risk of disease onset, the system will also show a “health risk” score that takes into account the potential impact on quality of life (QOL) if the disease were to occur. To make the percentage-based risk easier to understand, the onset risk will be recalculated and displayed as a “disease ratio,” comparing the individual’s risk with that of people of the same gender and age group.
