Launch of ‘Karteco Workwell’, a PHR system for businesses, integrated with Sony Biz Networks’ cloud-based attendance management system ‘AKASHI,’ supporting the realization of true health management
- October 22, 2024
Medical Data Vision Co., Ltd. (MDV) (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Hiroyuki Iwasaki) has developed and will begin selling “Karteco Workwell,” a Personal Health Record (PHR) system for businesses. By integrating with Sony Biz Networks Inc.’s (SBN) cloud-based attendance management system “AKASHI” (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Yasutaka Ogasawara) and promoting the “Emo Scan Approach,” MDV aims to support companies in realizing “true health management.“
The vital sensing feature integrated into Karteco Workwell is linked with the clock-in and clock-out data from AKASHI, which offers various methods for time tracking. This integration enhances AKASHI’s usability, convenience, and versatility while enabling Karteco Workwell to objectively measure employees’ health conditions alongside attendance management. It helps predict potential health issues early on and suggests solutions to encourage corrective actions.
A key feature of this service is its ability to combine attendance data with vital sensing information to analyze work patterns and the state of the autonomic nervous system, allowing for an objective assessment of employees’ mental well-being. Additionally, through the promotion of the “Emo Scan Approach,” a new mental health framework consisting of three layers, objective measurement, subjective measurement, and result processing. It supports the creation of a tolerant and vibrant workplace
Objective Measurement Area
By holding their face up to the smartphone camera during clock-in and clock-out, employees can utilize high-precision non-contact vital sensing technology to measure their heart rate, respiratory rate, and the states of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems for the day. This allows for an objective assessment of physical and mental fatigue and stress levels. By integrating and analyzing this data with attendance information, it becomes possible to gain a comprehensive understanding of employees’ health conditions.
Subjective Measurement Area
By measuring employees’ conditions continuously on a daily basis, we quickly identify those who need early intervention, such as in cases of “presenteeism”—when employees continue to work despite health issues. We then propose stress checks and Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) tailored to each individual’s situation, providing opportunities for self-reflection and offering comprehensive support for the physical and mental well-being of employees.
Result Processing Area
It is possible to conduct detailed analyses by department, job type, position, and age group, tailored to the work environment. Additionally, by complementing existing services such as pulse surveys (short, repeated surveys to capture real-time employee satisfaction and organizational issues) and occupational health physician support, we prevent the operations from becoming mere formalities. Furthermore, with personalized improvement proposals, we not only enhance employee retention rates but also contribute to reducing costs associated with absenteeism, resignation, and recruitment-related expenses.
Main Functions of Karteco Workwell
Functions for Employees
- Tap the Clock In/Out Button on the top screen during morning and evening commutes.
- Confirm clock-in/out via AKASHI.Immediately start measurement with the Face Recognition screen.
- 10 seconds after clocking in/out, you will see the results for your current stress and fatigue levels, displayed as “Your Current Mode.”
Functions for Corporate HR and Health Management Departments
- The HR and health management departments can visualize employees’ stress and fatigue levels and conduct group analyses.
- This data can be utilized to implement measures for mental health management, both for the entire organization and for individual employees as needed.
*The sharing of autonomic nervous system results is subject to employees’ consent (agreement to the use of personal information).
Future Developments
To address these societal challenges, MDV and SBN will promote a new initiative called the “Emo Scan Approach.” By leveraging the strengths of both companies, MDV and SBN aim to achieve true health management (with a focus on mental health measures). Moving forward, we will continue to announce updates on both companies’ efforts regarding the “Emo Scan Approach” as they develop.
