Sony Biz Networks adopts PHR System “Karteco” Capturing a 10-second facial image with a smartphone to manage employee health
- July 23, 2024
Sony Biz Networks Corporation (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Yasutaka Ogasawara) has decided to adopt the PHR (Personal Health Record) system “Karteco” developed and provided by Medical Data Vision Co., Ltd. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Hiroyuki Iwasaki; hereafter “MDV”), a company that promotes the utilization of medical data.
Sony Biz Networks employees will use Karteco after waking up, during their daily clocking in, while on duty, and while resting after returning home, to take a 10-second picture of their face with their smartphone to measure their autonomic nervous system balance, etc. The results will be used to provide advice to employees on how to improve their health and well-being. The advice displayed according to the results is used as a hint to review lifestyle habits and help maintain good health.

Last November, MDV completely renewed Karteco under the concept of “health management for myself and my precious family. Featuring non-contact biometric data acquisition technology (sensing), Karteco users can now easily monitor their pulse rate, respiration rate, and autonomic nervous system balance by simply taking a 10-second picture of their face with their smartphone camera, making it easier for them to manage their health on a daily basis.
MDV is enhancing the functionality of Karteco with technical support from Prediction One, an AI predictive analytics tool provided by Sony Network Communications inc., a group company of Sony Biz Networks. Prediction One’s AI technology will be applied to the “Disease Risk Report,” a future prediction function that indicates the risk of disease onset, one of the services provided with Karteco, expanding the risk prediction from 6 diseases to a total of 22 diseases by the end of September 2024.
